The Company

For an innovative European technology company active in wildfire risk management, we are looking for an Independent Sales Consultant in Spain. The company has developed an advanced cloud-based platform that combines scientific modelling, geospatial data, environmental information and weather conditions to help organisations better understand and manage wildfire risk.

The technology can simulate how wildfires may develop, including the potential direction and speed of a fire, flame behaviour and the areas, infrastructure and buildings that could become exposed. It can support organisations both before and during wildfire events, from prevention and vegetation management to operational planning and evacuation decisions.
The technology is already being used in Southern Europe. Spain is a new growth market, and we are looking for someone who understands how to navigate the Spanish public sector and can build the market locally.

The opportunity

This is not a traditional employed sales position and it is not a high-volume SaaS SDR role. You will work as an independent commercial representative, identifying and developing opportunities primarily within Spanish municipalities and other public or semi-public organisations. An initial database of approximately 500 Spanish municipalities is already available, including contact details, alongside an existing sales approach and supporting materials. There are also some initial conversations in the Spanish market, although the market is still at an early stage commercially.

The primary opportunity is within municipalities and local authorities, particularly departments and stakeholders responsible for areas such as civil protection, emergency planning, wildfire prevention, forestry and land management.

  • There are also potential applications for:

  • Fire and emergency services

  • Regional and other public authorities

  • Forestry and land-management organisations

  • Large private landowners

  • Vineyards and agricultural estates

  • Resorts and golf courses

  • Solar farms

  • Road and infrastructure operators

  • Military sites and other organisations managing large or vulnerable areas

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for opening the Spanish market and developing relationships with relevant decision-makers.
This can include identifying the appropriate stakeholder within an organisation, making the initial approach, introducing the solution and developing the opportunity towards a pilot or commercial agreement. A typical first step can be offering a prospect an initial wildfire risk analysis or presentation. This can subsequently develop into a trial period in which local data is incorporated and the organisation can experience how the technology supports its own environment and decision-making.

Depending on your experience and preference, you can either focus primarily on opening doors and generating qualified opportunities, with the founders taking responsibility for the later stages of the sales process, or manage opportunities yourself from initial prospecting through to closing.

You may therefore:

  • Approach municipalities and other relevant organisations

  • Identify and engage the appropriate decision-makers

  • Build relationships with Civil Protection and other relevant departments

  • Introduce the technology and its potential applications

  • Arrange qualified meetings and demonstrations

  • Develop pilots and commercial opportunities

  • Navigate public-sector procurement processes

  • Coordinate with the founders and technical team

  • Manage opportunities through the full sales process if desired

  • Build a long-term network and pipeline within Spain

The technology you will represent

The platform transforms scientific, geospatial, environmental and meteorological data into practical information that can be used by organisations responsible for wildfire preparedness and response. Among other applications, organisations can use the technology to assess:

  • How a wildfire may spread under particular conditions

  • Which areas, buildings or infrastructure could become exposed

  • Potentially safer evacuation routes

  • How changes in vegetation could influence future fire behaviour

  • How local infrastructure and resources can be incorporated into emergency planning

  • How information can be shared between different teams during an incident

The platform is cloud-based and accessible across different devices. It can also incorporate additional local datasets and potentially integrate with external detection and monitoring technologies.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate is not necessarily someone from a traditional software sales background. We are particularly interested in people who already understand the Spanish public sector, wildfire management, forestry, GIS/geospatial technology, civil protection or adjacent markets. You could currently be working as an independent consultant, commercial advisor, industry specialist or representative of complementary products and services.

  • Relevant backgrounds could include:

  • Public-sector sales or consulting

  • Civil Protection / emergency management

  • Wildfire prevention and fire safety

  • Forestry and forest management

  • GIS and geospatial technology

  • Environmental consultancy

  • Municipal or regional government consultancy

  • Land and infrastructure management

  • Technology or equipment sold to municipalities

  • A pre-existing network within Spanish municipalities, Civil Protection, forestry or related organisations would be highly valuable.

What matters most

You understand how business with Spanish municipalities and public organisations actually works. You know that these sales processes require patience, credibility and relationship building rather than aggressive high-volume outreach. You are comfortable finding your way into an organisation, identifying the real decision-maker and understanding procurement procedures. You should be commercially minded and capable of creating opportunities independently, but you do not need to be a traditional SaaS salesperson. Native or professional-level Spanish is essential.

Commercial model

This is an independent, fully commission-based assignment. There is no fixed salary or hourly compensation.
Typical contract values are approximately €15,000–€20,000.

The commission structure is straightforward:

10% of total contract value
You originate the opportunity and arrange a qualified meeting with the relevant decision-maker. If one of the founders subsequently develops and closes the opportunity, you receive 10% of the final contract value.
For a €15,000–€20,000 contract, this represents approximately €1,500–€2,000 commission.

20% of total contract value
You originate the opportunity and manage the complete commercial process through to a successful close.
For a €15,000–€20,000 contract, this represents approximately €3,000–€4,000 commission.
The typical sales cycle is approximately three months, although this can vary depending on the organisation and procurement process.

The initial collaboration will be structured for six months. This opportunity can therefore be particularly relevant for an independent consultant who already operates within this ecosystem and wants to add an innovative, complementary technology to their existing activities.

Interested?

If you have experience working with Spanish municipalities, Civil Protection, forestry, GIS, wildfire management or related public-sector organisations  and have the commercial ability and network to open doors, we would be interested in speaking with you. This is an opportunity to help introduce a proven European wildfire-management technology into a market where the need for better prevention, preparation and operational intelligence continues to grow.
